Kentucky had numerous chances to win the game, but uncharacteristic mistakes proved costly. The Wildcats committed 12 penalties for 80 yards, including several that negated big plays. They also struggled to convert on third down, going just 3-of-15.

"We had opportunities to make plays, but we didn't execute," said Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops. "When you don't execute, you end up losing games like this."

Florida's defense played a major role in the victory. The Gators held Kentucky to just 255 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers. Anthony Richardson and Amari Burney recorded interceptions for Florida, while Ventrell Miller led the team with 10 tackles.

"Our defense stepped up when we needed them most," said Florida head coach Billy Napier. "They gave us a chance to win the game."

With the loss, Kentucky's bowl hopes are dwindling. The Wildcats need to win two of their remaining three games to reach bowl eligibility. They host Vanderbilt next week before traveling to Tennessee and Georgia.

"We're not giving up," said Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. "We still have a chance to reach a bowl game. We just need to find a way to win two more games."

Kentucky's fate now lies in their own hands. They must win their remaining games against Vanderbilt and either Tennessee or Georgia to become bowl eligible. If they fail to do so, it will be the first time since 2017 that the Wildcats have missed out on a bowl game.
