Pittman tested positive for the virus on Thursday and is currently isolating at home. As per NCAA and SEC health and safety protocols, he is not permitted to interact with the team in person.
Offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and defensive coordinator Barry Odom will assume play-calling duties on the sidelines. The rest of the coaching staff will also have increased responsibilities.
Despite being physically separated from the team, Pittman will maintain communication with the coaches and players throughout the game. He will provide input via headset and will be available for consultation.
The team has expressed its support for Pittman and is determined to perform well in his absence. Senior quarterback KJ Jefferson said, "We're not going to use Coach Pittman's absence as an excuse. We're all in this together and we're going to fight for him."
